April 2020 Dividend Update

Hey everyone, it’s another monthly dividend update!

For April, I saw a smaller than usual return. It was disappointing to see that my dividend income have been cut because of the effects of COVID-19 to the stock market.

But, I can’t do much about that anymore. That’s out of my control.

TLDR; I have a video as well if you’re not interested in reading.

Here’s a breakdown of my April 2020 dividends.

PCI $     2.33
AGNC $     2.08
STAG $     3.18
GNL $   30.42
O $     1.97
GOOD $     3.25
LAND $     0.49

There are three additional reasons why my dividends for April were lower than usual. $GNL made some dividend cuts, $NRZ didn’t release a dividend for April and $APLE temporarily suspended their distributions.

First, $GNL definitely affected the reduction of my dividend income for April. The company released a dividend change announcement on March because of the uncertainty of when COVID-19 is going to end. They want to preserve cash to continue their operations.

From $0.533 quarterly dividend per share, they cut it down to $0.40 per share. That’s a $0.13 per share or more than $10 in potential income that I lost.

Second, $NRZ’s pay date won’t be until May 15th.

Third, $APLE has temporarily suspended their monthly distributions to help mitigate the effects of COVID-19. This translated to a $10 loss in potential income for me.

Basically, almost $30 in dividend income was lost for the month of April.

The longer this COVID-19 issue stands, the more the stock market will be affected because consumers are not spending money to help stimulate economic activity.

All we gotta do now is wait and see how this plays out.
